AUSTRALIANS CHALLENGED TO FIND A SAFARI IN THE EVERYDAY
Australians from all walks of life are being challenged to find a ‘safari’ in their everyday life and submit a 60 second video to win a luxurious South African holiday worth $15,000.
Boutique Africa travel specialist, Encompass Africa, launched the simple-to-enter video competition this morning on its Facebook page.
Encompass Africa Managing Director, Jonathon Wilson, said that the competition is for everyday Australians who dream of a safari holiday, but spend too much time on Facebook or their hand held devices.
“Love it or loathe it, Facebook and the internet has changed our lives and the way we connect with people, even our travel habits.
“So many people, me included, are addicted to our hand held devices and documenting the every day.
“Research in the UK suggests that some people log onto social media sites up to 20 times a day.
“We thought; why not harness that energy and encourage people to do something fun and productive that could result in them winning an amazing travel prize.
“We’re asking people to create a little 60 second video which they can upload to our Facebook page, showing how they find a safari in their daily lives.
Danica Wilson, Jonathon’s wife and business partner, knows first-hand that the best travel in Africa is off the beaten track with a reliable guide, it’s how the couple met!
‘I was born in Australia, but Jonathan was born and raised in South Africa and worked as a guide for several years travelling Southern and East Africa with guests from all over the world.
“All the team at Encompass Africa know the destinations intimately and possess real experience and craftsmanship when it comes to creating the perfect experience for guests.
“They have all lived, worked and travelled extensively throughout Africa and pride themselves on showcasing the absolute best that Africa has to offer.
The competition runs until 29 November 2013. The winner will receive an amazing prize that includes return airfares from Sydney or Perth to Johannesburg flying South Africa Airways and 12 nights luxury accommodation staying at More Quarters, Cape Town; Le Quartier Francais, The Cape Winelands; Tanda Tula Safari Camp, Timbavati and Lion Sands River Lodge, Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve.

Introducing Dr von Paris
We recently got had in the Tasting Room. Dr von Paris (great fake name) ducked out before the bill arrived. Fake credit card details and a mobile number that belonged to some poor lady, who had never eaten in the Tasting Room, left us all feeling like we’d been Punk’d. We do however think that the name the good Dr came up with was inspired … von Paris. Brilliant.
For the next week we are running a tasty competition – our own version of homage to Dr von Paris – come up with the best false name, post it on our Facebook page – and we’ll reward the name we like the most with dinner for two in the Tasting Room … and you won’t even have to duck out before the bill arrives.
Go on get posting!
Dr von Paris (great fake name) ducked out before the bill arrived. Fake credit card details and a mobile number that belonged to some poor lady, who had never eaten in the Tasting Room, left us all feeling like we’d been Punk’d. Apparently the good doctor has been visiting a number of top restaurants in and around Cape Town. Good to know that even those with fake names have excellent taste!
After we came to terms with the fact that the doctor would not be returning, to settle his dinner bill, we realised that the name he decided to use for his reign of restaurant-terror was inspired, brilliant in fact.
So – in our own version of homage – we will be running a tasty competition motivated by Dr. von Paris’s fabulous con job. From today until the 15th of May 2011 you need to come up with best false name, post it on our Facebook page, and we’ll reward the name we like the most with dinner for two in the Tasting Room.
The best news is that you won’t have to duck out before the bill arrives. Nice.
