Dinner that Delights …

The Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) will once again be hosting a dinner – on Saturday the 9th of October 2011 – to raise funds for hungry Western Cape school children.

This dinner once again marks the start of the annual National Nutrition Week, which runs from the 9th to the 13th of October 2010, and it showcases dishes with a twist by our very own: Margot Janse and Neil Jewell.

The twist is an interesting one … all dishes created for the evening by the chefs must make use of only PSFA’s feeding programme ingredients. So you can expect to see these culinary geniuses wowing diners with includes that include: soya, lentils, cabbage and more.

The evening – which hosts 90 people – is already sold out. If last year is anything to go by it is going to be a huge success, and it will result in a whole lot more school children being fed.

The PSFA is a registered non-profit organiseation that currently feeds 237 000 children in 645 schools on a daily basis. For more information call (021) 447-6020 or visit www.psfa.org.za

Piñatas have never been this glam …

Today we were introduced to CONFETTI SYSTEM. Their art is phenomenal and, if they read this, we’d love to have them come stay with us and exhibit in Franschhoek at is art.

P.S. We’re trying to work out how exactly we’d ship one of these stunning piñata to S.A. We want one so badly it hurts. Aches in fact.

Our Mini Bars go Local

From the 1st of October 2011 all our complimentary mini bars – located in the Four Quarters Suites, the Auberge Suites and the Petite Garden Suites – now showcase local products.

We’ve replaced all the drinks and snacks with uniquely South African equivalents, ranging from ciders to gingerbeer and our very own Miss Molly wine.

This new and quirky twist offers a true taste of South Africa’s most delicious mini bar additions. Yum!

The Queen Victoria Hotel

We recently stayed at the latest addition to the Newmark Hotel Group, The Queen Victoria. The service was impeccable, the staff were charming and they have arguably the BEST staircase in South Africa.

Here are a few of our favourite things …

We love you Vicky-baby!
