Pashing on the Parsnip
The parsnip is the undiscovered vogue-like sister of the overused carrot and the tired potato. It’s crunchy, super versatile and in a rare twist it is also ridiculously healthy.
The parsnip’s super-veggie powers include the ability to lower cholesterol and the fact that it is lower in calories than the humble potato.
All of the above makes the parsnip a front runner for veggie-pash-of-the-month. Yes please!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
We have had a wonderful response to our Father’s Day competition. All of your entries were fantastic, what great dads you have.
These excellent entries have made choosing a winner incredibly difficult. But unfortunately there can be only one winner and today that is Li-Anne’s dad.
Congratulations Li-Anne your wedding dress story wooed! We’ll be in touch via email to confirm the details. Have a fabulous weekend everyone.
We have had a wonderful response to our Father’s Day competition. All of your entries were fantastic, what great dads you have! These excellent entries have made choosing a winner incredibly difficult. But – as you all know – there can be only one winner … today that winner is Li-Anne’s dad.
Congratulations Li-Anne your wedding dress story wooed each and every one of us! We’ll be in touch via email to confirm the details.
Have a fabulous Father’s Day tomorrow.
Who’s your Daddy?
This Father’s Day we’d like to help you spoil your dad.
Tell us – in 140 characters or less – why your Dad is the Dad of Dads, the Super Dad, the Dad that outshines all other Dads and we’ll reward the best Dad with a night for two at Le Quartier Français. We will even throw in a delish breakfast, a tasty lunch at Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant and a bottle of Môreson’s exceptional red blend – Mata Mata.
We will make the selection on Friday the 17th of June, just in time for Father’s Day on the 18th of June. Enter and knock your Dad’s socks, or stokies, off this Father’s Day.
It’s time to get typing. On your mark, get set, go!
In 2011 one of our favorite trends has to the eatsake: an edible keepsake that guests get to take home with them after their dining adventure.
The tastiest eatsake, that we’ve experienced thus far, is Margot Janse’s after-dinner take-home Tasting Room bonbons. They are so delicious that Margot now hides them from us so that we can’t have them for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even as a sometimes-snack.
Seriously, they are to-die-for.
Cook Franschhoek with Neil Jewell
From the 10th to the 12th of June 2011 learn to cook with a bevy of Franschhoek’s finest chefs, including our very own Neil Jewell.
This coming Friday the 10th of June and Saturday the 11th of June, from 16h00 to 17h30 join Neil Jewell – the Charcuterie King – for an afternoon of Sausage Making, Salami Tasting and Wine Savouring.
For just R150 per person it really is the most delightful, and pocket-friendly, way to spend this coming Friday.
