Farm Grocer Gets a Facelift

The Farm Grocer, at Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant (on Môreson) has just undergone a refurbishment. What’s more is it now opens at 09h00 every day of the week.

In addition to the décor Neil has added a new mini charcuterie menu, available exclusively through The Farm Grocer, to his offering.

Cha Cha Cha Charcuterie Menu

For those that are big Farm Grocer fans you’ll be happy to know that you can still purchase all of Neil Jewell’s delectable charcuterie, breads, preserves and – of course – Tina’s fabulous fudge directly from the grocer throughout the day.

New Year in Franschhoek!

Can you here those MCC corks popping? Well we can!

Ring in this New Year in delicious style. Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a nine course African Inspired Surprise Tasting Menu.  For just R1000 per person, without wine pairings, and R1400 per person, with wine pairings it’s the only thing to do this New Years in Franschhoek.

I can almost taste the scrumptious-ness …

Instead of Xmas Cards

Last year instead of sending out Christmas cards and gifts we paid for a local crèche’s first Christmas. This party was funded entirely by the money that we would have spent on your Christmas card and gift.

The party, last year, was such a huge success that we have decided that this Christmas we will once again be giving to those that need it most. This means that we will be throwing Christmas parties for not one but two local crèches.

Mrs. Ndaba and her toddlers and all the children at the Liwa Lethu ECD Centre will enjoy Christmas parties filled with healthy food, laughter, clothes to take home, cupcakes, sweets and an exciting visit from Santa Claus!

The runway show

We visited the new Missoni Hotel, in Edinburgh, this October. It was a feast for the senses and in 2011 I think we will see more hotels partnering with fashion designers.

We’re about to be introduced to the best-dressed hotels the world has ever seen and I, for one, can hardly wait!

Eat Out Top 10!

The Tasting Room, at Le Quartier Français, placed 2nd in the prestigious South African 2010 Eat Out Top 10 Awards.

This latest accolade rounds out an exceptional culinary year for Margot Janse and her team. Just days ago The Tasting Room received three stars in the 2011 Rossouw’s Restaurants Guide. Earlier this year The Tasting Room was ranked 31 in the S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants for the 6th consecutive year (and 7thh year overall). In addition to all these awards Margot has cooked this year, by invitation, in both Brazil and Thailand.

Susan Huxter, owner of Le Quartier Français, has nothing but the finest praise for The Tasting Room team’s achievements. “The success of The Tasting Room experience has everything to do with Margot’s exceptional teams, both in the kitchen and in front of house. This group of talented, hard-working individuals is testament to the fact that it is possible to create an internationally acclaimed offering by employing locally and skilling up. The passion that each person shows for their job is inspiring and I consider myself truly privileged to work with each of them on a daily basis.”

2010 has been quite a year for Le Quartier Français and 2011 shows no signs of being any different!
